Janette Fry originally trained as a Graphic Designer at Portsmouth College of Art. After that she worked for a while as an archaelogical illustrator before moving to London where she worked for a couple of Design Groups producing magazines for schools, holiday brochures and other promotional material. She then became a ‘freelancer’ designing layouts for many of the well-known magazines such as Just 17, Hello and Ideal Home as well as The Daily Mirror and Sunday Express.
Janette then developed a passion for working with clay and went to Camberwell College of Art to gain a degree in 3D design of ceramics. She was fortunate to have both Carol McNickol and Ewen Henderson as her personal tutors and she was taught to throw by Colin Pearson and Steve Parry.
Janette has continued working with clay for the past eighteen years. She also runs The Art Club in Wimbledon for children on Saturdays with her friend, Ann Tagholm.
